Good advice as usual from Cornell NestWatch. Please note their advice to have considerable distance of space of seed feeders and mealworm feeders from active nestboxes. Not only can it attract predators to the increased bird activity there, but also it causes extra stress on the protective parent birds expending more of their energy chasing other bird species away anywhere near their nests.

The male bluebirds are now splitting from mixed groups and establishing breeding territory, looking for possible nest sites to show to potential mates—those located in the deep south may find nestings already started. Are your nest boxes ready for the birds? Are you new to bluebirding? The NABS website has a full list of educational Fact Sheets in full color PDF format—easy to print out and shared online. New bluebirders will find the Fact Sheets titled Getting Started with Bluebirds, House Sparrow Control, Predator Control, and Monitoring Bluebird Nest Boxes—all great reading tools to explain how to enjoy and have successful nestings with the bluebirds and the other welcomed native cavity nesters in your backyard bluebird boxes—click on this blue hyperlink to get to the Fact Sheets webpage: http://www.nabluebirdsociety.org/nabs-fact-sheets/
